Access asynchronous tutorials in the GC Library Tutorial Academy (Niche Academy). Custom tutorials created by GC Librarians are listed below. Additional general tutorials are also available in the academy.

Introduction to GC Library

• Galveston College Library Orientation: A 20-minute guide to library resources, website navigation, and connecting with the library team via chat, text, or email.
• Library Account: Learn how to access and navigate your GC library account.

Database Searching and Research

• Academic Search Complete: A 15-minute overview of finding scholarly articles, magazines, and multimedia, with tips on organizing and saving research.
• Discovering Databases: A 44-minute tutorial introducing Information Literacy, with guidance on accessing GC databases, identifying source types, and improving search techniques.
• Whitecaps OneSearch: A 10-minute tutorial on searching resources across multiple databases.

Intro to Nursing and Allied Health Research Series:

• MedlinePlus (10 min)
• PubMed (20 min)
• Qualitative vs. Quantitative (10 min): Covers identifying quantitative vs. qualitative research papers.

Citation and Plagiarism

• Advanced Citation: APA Style (7th edition) and MLA Style (9th edition) (20 min each).
• Plagiarism and AI: A 20-minute tutorial on understanding plagiarism, its impact at GC, and responsible AI use.

For Faculty/Staff
Library Resources Overview: A 30-45 minute session on integrating information literacy, accessing resources, placing items on reserve, scheduling sessions, and more. (Not currently in the GC Library Tutorial Academy.)

Library Shorts
A series of quick, 5-minute videos on various topics to support students and faculty. Available on the GC Library YouTube page and can be embedded in CANVAS courses.
