Technology @ GC Library

The Galveston College Library provides access to a wide range of technology to support student learning, research, and accessibility. From laptops and virtual reality (VR) headsets to printing, scanning, and Wi-Fi, our goal is to ensure that all students, faculty, and staff have access to the tools they need for success.

Laptops and VR Headsets

Laptops and Meta Quest 3 VR Headsets are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk.

• Laptops: available for 24-hour checkout.
• VR Headsets: available for a designated time period with approval from the Division Coordinator and Faculty for specific courses. These devices are not available for general checkout.
• Borrowers are responsible for any damage or missing parts and must sign the Technology Equipment Checkout Agreement before checkout.

Print, Copy, and Scan

Galveston College students, faculty, and staff can print, copy, and scan in the library using two printers:

• Printer 1 (LibrarySecurePrint): Located in the Copy Center (front of the library). Offers print, copy, and scan-to-email functions.
• Printer 2 (Lab_R116): Located in the Computer Lab. Offers duplex (double-sided) printing.

Printing Details:

• Free, limited printing (maximum 25 pages per day)
• Black and white only
• Print from library computers or personal devices
• Wireless printing available via LibrarySecurePrint through the Whitecaps Portal

Wi-Fi Access

Connect to the GC-WiFi network for wireless internet access:

1. Select “GC-WiFi” from the available networks.
2. Log in with your Whitecaps username or email address and password.

Desktop Magnifier (TOPAZ XL HD)

The Topaz XL HD is a desktop video magnifier that enhances readability for printed materials such as books, documents, and microfiche. To use the magnifier, please speak with a member of the library staff at the Circulation Desk for assistance.
