    Virtual Librarians at GC will:

    • Post three key announcements per semester:

      • Introduction at the start of the course

      • Midterm reminder about library resources

      • End-of-semester virtual library evaluation

    • Answer research and library-related questions in a discussion forum

    • Create resource pages, tutorials, and quizzes tailored to your course

    • Help identify the best research materials for your students

    • Additional announcements and resources can be provided upon request.


    Adding a Librarian to Your Canvas Course

    Embedding a librarian in your Canvas course in the “Librarian” role enables seamless collaboration between instructors and librarians.

    Librarians Can:

    • Access course materials

    • Post announcements and participate in discussions

    • Add relevant research content to the course

    Librarians cannot view student enrollments, grades, or other protected information.


    How to Add a Librarian in Canvas:

    1. From your Canvas course homepage, click "People" in the left-hand menu.

    2. Click the "+ People" button.

    3. Enter the librarian’s email address.

    4. Select "Librarian" from the role dropdown menu.

    5. Click "Next", and the librarian will receive an invitation to join your course.
