    What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

It is a free service that is offered by Galveston College Library that provides books and articles that are not available at our library and may be requested to be loaned from other libraries. Current students, faculty, and staff are allowed to request ILLs.

    Check Availability First

Please check the GC Library catalog and online databases before submitting an ILL request. We may already own the item that you are looking for, and it can save you the time and effort of submitting a request by going through the databases first.

    • For books and articles: try using the Whitecaps Cat OneSearch by going here.
    • For articles only: try searching the A to Z Database list here.

    Picking Up Your Request

You will receive an email notification when the materials are ready for you to pick up.

    • Books and media items will be available for pick up at the Circulation Desk.
    • Electronic resources (articles and book chapters) will be emailed to you at your Whitecaps email address.

    What is the Texshare Card?

With a TexShare Card you can borrow books, music, and other library resources from any other participating TexShare library, just as if you were card-holder there. For more information about the TexShare Card, please visit the Get a TexShare Card page.

Please note: The purpose of interlibrary loan is to provide students and faculty resources for their personal research needs that are not owned by the GC library.  The library will not fill ILL requests for books or journal articles that we own, regardless of format.  This includes ordering print books if the library owns the e-book.
