The ADN Research Guide is intended to create a pathway to research tools and resources to assist you with your projects and assignments in the ADN program.

Students and professionals in nursing and healthcare need to understand how to conduct research. Research also helps you respond to the changes in the healthcare environment we are definitely in a state of change, and you want to be sure you have access to relevant information!

Many research resources and tools are available to GC students in the library; knowing which resources are available for your program or course and how to use the resources can sometimes be overwhelming. The guide will help you navigate library resources whether you are an online student, dual credit, hybrid student, or attending in-person.

In this guide you will find:

    Nursing & Allied Health Databases

You will access databases and journals to find articles and clinical information on nursing research.

Note about nursing journals: be sure to read the nursing journal descriptions; some journals under the Nursing Journals tab are NOT accessible off-campus.

This list is not conclusive. Please search our A to Z Database List for additional sources.

    Evidence-Based Care Sheets in CINAHL

EBSCO HOSTCINAHL provides nearly 150 Evidence-Based Care Sheets designed to give a "general informational overview of the subject for the healthcare professional" on various topics. Most are two pages long and include information on "What We Know" and "What We Can Do," supported by a list of References for further details.

While the Evidence-Based Care Sheets are written, edited, and reviewed by RNs and MDs, they are published by CINAHL Information Systems, so they are not considered journal articles. Use these for background information and helpful references.

You can view these helpful summaries by clicking on Evidence-Based Care Sheets at the top of the CINAHL screen:

Then you'll see a screen where you can either browse for a topic alphabetically or search for a topic using the search box:

You can view the Evidence-Based Care Sheets by checking one or more topic checkboxes and then clicking Search at the top of the list:

Once you hit Search, you'll see a page with all the Sheets you selected. To read the document, click on the PDF Full-Text link:
