  The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD strives to provide high quality, efficient, and cost effective services so that persons with mental disabilities may live with dignity as fully functioning, participating, and contributing members of our community. We do not deny services based on a patient’s inability to pay, nor for any reason including race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Discounts are available based on family size and income, and a sliding scale rate schedule is available.
• The Montrose Center

  The Montrose Center provides therapy and counseling for depression and suicidal thoughts. The Montrose Center is an inclusive environment and will treat anyone regardless of sexual orientation, or gender identity, however, they do specialize in issues associated with members of the LGBTQ+ community.
• National Alliance on Mental Illness

  The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a United States-based advocacy group originally founded as a grassroots group by family members of people diagnosed with mental illness.
• National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

  The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. The Lifeline is comprised of a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with national standards and best practices.
• Texas Suicide Prevention

  Texas Suicide Prevention initiative is the result of a collaborative effort throughout the state of Texas of community-based organizations, state and local agencies, academic institutions and many others who work together to reduce suicides in Texas. Galveston’s center is the Gulf Coast Center.

  The Trevor Project provides 24/7 crisis support services to LGBTQ young people. Text, chat, or call anytime to reach a trained counselor.
• Texas Health and Human Services

  Suicide prevention starts with recognizing the warning signs of suicide and taking them seriously. Talking openly about suicidal thoughts and feelings can save a life. National and local mental health services, listed below, offer telephone, chat, text and other resources for people who are at risk of suicide. Contact your local mental health authority or call 2-1-1 and ask for the LMHA in your area.
