    Welcome to your guide to GC Library's online resources. This guide is designed to help students at a distance or taking online courses to locate and use GC Library's online resources and research tools. This guide is also designed to help faculty and staff become more familiar with online library resources and services to help our students be successful in their research and use of the library.

    This guide will help you get started with research and familiarize you with library resources available to you online.

    The resources below are available online 24 hours a day/7 days a week to all current GC students, faculty, and staff.  You will be prompted to log in with your current GC ID and password. Please see the Off-Campus Access page for more information.

    • To find scholarly articles, trade publications, magazines, and newspapers. Access Article Databases from the library's homepage.

    Find eBooks

    • The library has hundreds of thousands of eBooks available through our eBooks Collections:
      • Academic eBook Collection-This multidisciplinary collection includes thousands of e-books covering a large selection of academic subjects and features e-books from leading publishers and university presses.
      • Nursing eBook Collection-From clinical guides and evidence-based practice manuals to practical handbooks and professional growth titles, this collection provides researchers the information they need to provide outstanding care.
      • EBSCO eBooks-EBSCO eBooks has more than 27,000 eBooks are available 24/7 for browsing, searching, and virtual check-out. This TexShare eBook collection includes titles from the world's leading business, technology, trade, reference, academic, and scholarly publishers.
      • eBook Central-eBook Central is a collection of scholarly eBooks from leading publishers. It covers the arts, business, education, health & medicine, history, law, literature & language, religion & philosophy, science & technology, and the social sciences.
      • Gale Virtual Reference Library-a collection of over 60 Reference eBooks that can be cross-searched, browsed and viewed on your iPad or eReader.

    Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and TexShare Card

    • Distance education students and faculty can use our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service to request books and journal articles that are not available at our library. We are currently working on a solution to expedite this service. Please see the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and TexShare Card page for more information about Interlibrary Loans and the TexShare Card. 
    • Please note: At this time, due to COVID-19 the library is NOT submitting interlibrary loan requests for print materials, but we are submitting requests for electronic journals. 

    Research Tutorial

    • The research tutorial is an online tutorial designed to assist you through the various steps of the research process, including identifying and developing a topic, gathering information, finding library resources, evaluating, and citing sources. You can access the Research Tutorial here, or on the second tab to the left. 

    Research Assistance

    • If you need assistance with your research assignment or you have a reference question and would like to speak with a reference librarian, we encourage you to please Contact a Librarian via email, phone/text or chat. This is a good option for students who need a brief explanation of a task or concept (e.g. citing sources, plagiarism, how to search for books and/or articles). 
    • If you would like personalized, in-depth assistance, please request a Reference Appointment and select Virtual or Remote as your appointment type. A Librarian will contact you to confirm your appointment and provide any additional instructions.  A reference librarian is available during library hours for research assistance on a specific subject or assignment.
